On groupsAs you may have noticed, the last blog here was an attempt to revive thumbhour. People ask us constantly about this but when `ThomFaust put a lot of work into reorganizing it, no one would show up. In the absence of our one activity feature, there's literally no reason for us to be a group. We appreciate the enthusiasm that has been expressed, but there are a lot of groups already focused on photography, challenges and contests, and critique. Let's focus on promoting these so that they are successful rather than saturating the 'market', if you will.
When it comes down to it, we are merely a social chat for people who have the common interest of photography. This is not really grounds for a club and we don't want to use the groups feature just because its there, but would rather help to promote a group that is active and focused solely on running these challenges so that they don't fizzle out the way Behind the Lens and Thumbhour have.
We would absolutely love to directly affiliate with a photo challenge/critique related group that is linked to the #photographers chat and vice versa. This could involve another privclass in the chat or something to that effect.
